Not sure how many of you remember my sudden getaway trip at Malacca during mid-August this year. Remember I shared an izakaya review? Check it out here. So after one and half month, I finally find my time to write my accommodation review. Since it was a sudden trip, it would be pricey if we book a hotel room. And also, Danny and I were planning to reduce our budget too. And hence, we decided to search for homestay. After few searches and recommendations, we booked our stay at The Cardamom Hostel.
FYI, it was our first homestay experience. We were curious about the accommodation and the service. We didn’t dare to put much expectation even though we had read a lot of positive reviews. However, when receiving an SMS from the person in charge, honestly speaking, we felt warm. He texted us to confirm our check-in time so he can wait us. Since it was a Friday, we only departed at late noon. We followed Waze to go The Cardamom Hostel. We reached a place with shop lots, but we didn’t see any signboard with the words “The Cardamom Hostel”. Drove few rounds but still unable to spot it. We called the person in charge and told us to wait at a shop so he can bring us up to the hostel. Finally, we spotted the signboard when we got down from the car.
The Cardamom Hostel doesn’t have fancy design or furniture. However, we felt we were home when stepping into the hostel. Just like what The Cardamom Hostel wanted its guests to feel like.
There was a corner full of guests’ notes. And also, The Cardamom Hostel provided all home appliances which all guests are free to use as long as you put them back after using.
Well, The Cardamom Hostel is really heart-warming. All things were well-labeled, guests can easily find things they need easily. Besides, The Cardamom Hostel put 100% trust on their guests. They provided some snack and drinks for sale; in the self-help method. So if you are hungry, you can grab some food and drop your money into the container there. If you want to have some other food, you can also walk to nearby 7-Eleven or mamak or restaurants downstairs.
All in all, we were satisfied with our stay at The Cardamom Hostel. They provided excellent service! We sincerely felt we were at home when staying at The Cardamom Hostel which we never had when we went for vacation. Next time, when we visit Malacca again or if anyone is asking suggestion for accommodation, for sure, we will recommend The Cardamom Hostel! However, the only thing we would like them to improve is to add a signboard which can be seen from roadside so that guest can find them easily.
Note: We booked a queen size bed room. RM50/night.

I realize malacca has lots of hidden gems like this. The homestay looks so cosy and comfy ;D
Thanks for the information, looks good. How much is it?
How much is the homestay? Very clean and can consider for homestay
Not bad albeit quite plain haha and wow they still dare to practice the open shop where nobody takes care of the food and money huh
I prefer homestay rather than hotel when I go for holiday~~~
Because most of the homestay owner is nice and they will share with you their stories~~~

Nice home stay experience. 😀

I've not heard of this hostel before because I have always only stayed at hotels. With your recommendation, I really should start to explore hostels.
I love Malacca! How lucky to find a nice and affordable place to stay. The owner sounds nice and honest too
Wow! Thanks for your review! It looks good! I think i going to stay here if i go to malacca
This homestay look so nice! May I know how much is it?
Looks cool dear! Wish can try this cute and simple hostel next time visiting Malacca with my bf 😀
reasonable looking and price too. Not bad!
Travel at an affordable budget staying at homestay is a great idea so that we can spend more on food instead. With the price paid, the place consider good and convenient.
I go to melaka on biz quite a lot. How much is it per night?
Awwwww so cute la this hostel!! And looks like it could save me some bucks! I'm gonna check this out whenever I'm at Malacca! XD
Nice homestay experience you had, the place looks simple but clean, and that's important to me 🙂
Haven't been staying in homestay before, I bet it was really fun though XD Gonna try it when I am going to travel next time! hehe
very old school. loooks rustic, but clean.
Well, this hostel looks quite decent and clean. For those backpackers its good and the price RM50 per night is really a bargain.
It does really look like someone's home that you just sleep over for a night, very comfy feel.
This kind of homestay is started around West Malaysia and the price is cheapest for queen size bed! Just like I stay homestay at Ipoh too.
Very nice home stay place dear. Post it note remind me of the one home stay I been to in Korea.
Looks like an interesting place to visit… I won't mind a stay if I head over to Melaka….
I have never stayed in this kind of accomodation before, but it sure looks kind of cute!
Simple and neat. Not bad for a stay on a budget. 🙂
thanks for sharing this affordable hostel stay 🙂 I like to visit Malacca for satay celuk, I can keep this for my upcoming satay celuk trip to Malacca 🙂

Have you stayed in B&B before? If haven't, give it a try. Cheap and comfortable.. =D
Yes! Now everywhere I visit, if I can find a homestay, I will do so.
They trust us, so they did this. Don't think people will try take away the snack which is so cheap without giving money.. Well, at least I don't. hahaa
Oh ya.. It is RM50/night. Very cheap price!
It's RM50/night

Yes. If you go Malacca, can check them out. They have new location now!
You will love their place. BTW, they have new rooms now which is nearer to Jonker Street. Check that when you are going.
It is RM50..
You're welcome
I was a little worry in the beginning. But everything is fine at the end.
You definitely need to check out B&B. The price is cheaper. It is comfortable like you are staying in hotel..
RM50/night
It is a really pleasant stay with them.
Mind to share your experience?
Every place is hit with homestay. I shall get my parents' house on site too.. hahaa
Yeah. The only thing you want to feel outside home is feeling like you are at home.
You're right. =)
The most important is comfortable.
Your mum's hometown at Malacca. You need to stay at hotel meh?
Then you definitely love this!
Yes. Save more for shopping! Or maybe eat at Jonker Street.. =p
