Okonomi New Menu @ Publika

51
Remember few months back in January, Okonomi was just a 2-month old Japanese restaurant in Publika. (Check out the previous post here). As mentioned in the previous review, Okonomi stands out from the crowd is because of their customised sushi roll. Meaning that diners can choose what they want to have in their sushi roll.

This time, I am back with Okonomi’s new menu! Thanks Foodink for the invitation. Started up the day with appetiser – Mango Prawn Salad. It was served with succulent prawns, mangoes and Japanese cucumber topped with tobiko. Not to forget to dress this delightful salad with mixed greens and cherry tomatoes. The mango was quite sour. If you are a person who loves sourish food like I do, this Mango Prawn Salad will be your favourite.

Following that, we had another salad but in sushi roll called Caeser Salad Roll. Uramaki made by soy wrap and white rice; chicken karaage, crispy coral lettuce and boiled egg were wrapped in the roll. Meanwhile, croutons and grated parmesan cheese were added as dressing. It was the healthiest sushi roll we have ever had.

Next, we had Crunchy Crab – another uramaki made by seaweed and white rice. Hokkaido crab meat, soft shell crab and carrot were inside; tempura crunch, togarashi and cheddar salad as dressings. Togarashi is a condiment which Japanese chili pepper is blend with other ingredients; and hence, Crunchy Crab was not only crispy but also spicy.

Other than new sushi rolls, Okonomi also comes out with new Japanese snacks which are Ebi Fry (Deep fried succulent breaded prawns) and Tempura Squid (Tempura battered deep fried crispy squid slices). Both were crispy but must be eat when it served, otherwise, the fried shade was not delicious anymore after some time.

Okonomi also comes out with some Japanese fusion food. Fresh grilled unagi with teriyaki glaze was served on pasta; called Unagi Pasta. Pasta was tasteless without unagi; therefore, if you have finished the unagi, the leftover pasta was just palatable.

If you are a chicken eater, you mush try this Chicken Gratin. Rich mushroom cream sauce with appetising Katsu chicken. The cream sauce tasted alike to carbonara sauce. It was heavenly delicious.

Some people do not like creamy sauce, diner like this can try their Prawn Kakiage. It is deep fried tempura battered prawns with teriyaki glaze, carrots and onions garnished with spring onions. However, personally don’t like it because it was dry.

If you have read the previous review, for sure you notice the Matcha Lava Cake. That is their most popular dessert. But then, this time I have tried their second famous dessert, which is Chocolate Parfait. It was made by cookies with Belgian chocolate syrup topped on soft serve ice cream, corn flakes, chocolate ice-cream, diced brownies; dark chocolate bamboo stick and strawberries as dressing. You can see the layers through the glass. This Chocolate Parfait was so mouth-watering and gastronomic!

Overall, Okonomi’s new menu was satisfying! Can’t wait to try more other dishes in their new menu. Still yet to try Okonomi? Guess this is the right time! Meanwhile, check out our customised sushi roll of that day.
