Recently, Danny and I were honored to be invited to join the pre-launch spring Omakase menu at Minori Japanese Restaurant. Without further ado, let’s visually experience the luxurious dining experience we have had on the pre-launch review.
Minori Japanese Restaurant is a semi-fine dining Japanese restaurant at Royale Chulan Hotel, Damansara Mutiara. They serve premium Japanese cuisine and also wide range of Japanese sake.
Not serving only great food, Minori also provides a classy and relaxing ambience to diners. If you would like to have a small private party, or you prefer to dine privately with your friends and family, you are recommended to reserve their event space which can fit up to 30 pax. More information, please contact Minori Japanese Restaurant.
The Spring Omakase Menu is prepared by Great Master Chef Takahiro, consist of 6 dishes, from appertizer to dessert.
Starting up our day with Appetizers of The Day. It was a combination of Yum Tofu and Grilled Seasoning Eggplant with Crab Sauce, along with Ginger Fervor with Mountain Kaviar. The tofu was smooth and soft, sipped in with the crab sauce, it was absolutely appetizing. Meanwhile, seasoned eggplant was delicious too; especially when you chewed it with salmon roe.
Subsequently, let’s warm our stomach with soup – Steamed Egg on the Organic Wasabi Leaf and Asari Shell “Ohitashi” Yuzu Orange Flavour. Fresh clam soup with wasabi leaf. Wait… Wasabi leaf? Yes. But you wouldn’t taste it strong unless you chew the leaf. Dig deeper, you will be able to scoop the steamed egg which was silky smooth and soft.
Coming up next was the grilled dish – White Miso Marinated Butter Fish “Saikyo Yaki” served with Vinegar Tomato, Wasabi Lotus Roots with Sweet Potato. It is one of our favorite dishes of the day. All the main and sides had their unique taste, stimulating diner’s taste buds till the max. The butterfish was grilled to perfection, it was fresh and well-marinated with sweet sauce. On the other hand, the wasabi lotus root was sour rather than pungent wasabi taste.
Another favorite of the day was the nimono – Tender Steamed Beef Tongue with Special Sauce. Before having it, we thought beef tongue taste like beef liver or any of the internal organs. Surprisingly, it was super tender and unexpectedly delicious with the special sauce. Believe it or not, it will make you craving more.
Normally, Omakase will be serving rice. Nonetheless, Minori served us with Japanese porridge – Scallop Porridge Minori Style with Fried Cherry Blossom Prawn. This carb dish was hot and flavorful; at the same time, it was crispy when eating together with the prawn.
The pre-launch review was ended up with dessert – Warabi Mochi and Green Tea Parfait. We are not a huge fan of green tea parfait; hence, for us, it was palatable.
As mentioned earlier, Minori serves different imported Sake. During the review, we were honored to try out three Sake. First was Sakamai Kikusui Junmai Daiginjo. FYI, this Sake is the only Sake in the world made with the legendary Kikusui Sake rice. This Sake has a rich aroma and gentle crisp dryness. Want to try the true Japanese Sake? Sakamai Kikusui is the one.
Second Sake was Funaguchi Kikusui Nama Genshu, the NO. 1 Nama Sake in Japan. The specialty of this Sake is that the Sake is being canned as soon as the Sake is pressed gives this sake a fresh fruity and a rich full-bodied flavor.
All in all, the Spring Omakase menu has brought us surprise. It has provided us the another level of Japanese dining experience. We definitely recommend Japanese food lover to try it.
Note: If you are a Maybankard holder, you are entitled 50% discount for Omakase set with minimum spending of RM500 or 20% off for Omakase set and Chef’s Monthly Recommendation Special Menu with spending below RM500. Seriously, this is a real deal that is worthy!
