#DigiCFC: Challenge for Change Finale 5.0

Happy Friday my dearest reader.
Three days ago I have been invited to attend the prize giving ceremony of DigiCFC S.5.
A big thank to Rantau PR for the invitation,
and also thank you Joo Yee for accompany me till the end.
What is DigiCFC S.5?
DigiCFC S.5 stands for the 5th edition of DiGi Challenge for Change;
it aims to invite Malaysians and local app developers to ideate and build innovative community-centric mobile apps,
which can bring Malaysian together for positive change.

This year, Digi themed the challenge as “Bringing Malaysian Together, One App at a Time”.
4 categories were formed:
(1) Discovering Culture – Generate exposure to encourage Malaysians to share and showcase local culture.
(2) Learning & Entertainment – Enhance learning both inside and outside classroom.
(3) Health & Wellness – Empower Malaysians to manage and improve health and wellness through better tracking, monitoring and sharing.
(4) Connected Citizens – Bring government and people close together via the use of innovative mobile technology.
DigiCFC S.5 consists of 2 phases.
Citizens were invited to submit their ideas via www.digicfc.my until Jan 18, 2014.
In Feb 28 until Mar 2, 10 shortlisted ideators were invited to attend workshop in phase 2.
During the Demo Day on April 24, 2014, the app developers submitted their mobile apps,
the best 15 developers across the categories pitched their submitted app to a panel of judges.
One best app from each category were chosen.

This huge event is made possible by Digi, with the support of 6 partners:
(1) Economic Transformation Programme (ETP)
(2) 1Malaysia for Youth (IM4U)
(3) National Digital Economy Initiative (Digital Malaysia
(4) Google Malaysia
(5) Microsoft Malaysia
(6) Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU)
So, after couple of sleepless nights, the winners were announced!
5 winners; 1 in each category and 1 in Digizens’ choice.
On June 24, 2014, a prize giving ceremony was held at PJ Live Art, Jaya One.
Media and bloggers were invited to attend the briefing at 5.30pm by Mr Joachin Rayaram, one of the Digi Authorities.
Around 7pm, people started coming to the event.
We were served with light food and drinks at The Bee.
About 7.45pm, we were told to go into the hall,
which means the ceremony is about to start!
Winners of DigiCFC S.5 are….
(1) Learning & Entertainment – Ashrudin Abdul Buhari for “1Auto”
(2) Health & Wellness – Kum Peng Han for “Run Doggie”
(3) Discovering Culture – Lim Fern Yit for “Jalan-Jalan”
(4) Connected Citizen – Alex Wong Kek Liang for “Tag A Price”
(5) DiGizens’ Choice – My Banjir
It is a success in DigiCFC S.5.
Digi did attract many young Malaysians and local developers to  join this contest.
This is not only inspire Malaysians to develop innovative ideas for mobile apps,
it also provide a platform for local developers and ideators a chance to work with Google and Microsoft.
For your information, Google Malaysia will choose a winner among these 5 winners’ submitted app.
 Same go to Microsoft Malaysia, a winner will be chosen too.
