I guess I have mentioned countless time that I have been to Malacca for a lot of times. Why? Because it is so near to KL! It seems to be a great place to escape during short holiday; or a weekend too. However, it is funny that all the while, I don’t have the chance to try out one of the must have food in Malacca – satay celup. Eventually, Danny brought me to Capitol Satay Celup in January when we visited Malacca.
Capitol Satay Celup is one of the most famous satay celup in Malacca. I was told that normally diners need to queue because it was super crowded; especially when it starts operating at 4pm. However, we were lucky that we didn’t experience that. Probably because it was a Friday night; meanwhile, it was around 10.30pm.
One of the reasons that Capitol is so famous should be the visit of a lot of celebrities. I can’t agree more this helps to increase exposure. Look at their wall and you will know whether your idol has been here or not~
FYI, Capitol Satay Celup is self-service basis. All food are served in skewer style. Diner needs to take their own food to cook.
Basically, satay celup is similar to lok lok. The difference is the soup base. Satay’s celup soup base is made with peanut and Gula Melaka, which tastes similar to satay sauce.
I am glad that we were served with a fresh pot of soup instead of sharing with previous customers. Here we have our supper!
Once the soup was boiled, just put all the food inside!
Here is my cheese tofu dipped with satay celup sauce. It was delicious! Finally, I tried it! Nonetheless, Danny said it wasn’t as good as his last visit.
A plate of plain bread and cucumber was served too. Dip it with the sauce to add flavor. BTW, check if you have dipped the sauce or the oil on the surface.
RM23/2 pax for this round~ Full enough? For supper, yes; however, probably need to have more if we were super hungry. You must definitely give a try if you have not experienced it.
went there before some years back got to say the sauce is amazing + so many varieties of steamboat items. love it
I used to ask my chinese friends to eat satay celup. Then he said it's not halal because they served pork. I got frustrated because It's look delicious.

I saw they sell their ready mix sauce spice at 11street the other day. This look so delicious!
I tried it before and really love the taste. The queue was long but luckily once we sat on the table, food will be served.
Love this and reading your post makes me miss it as the last time I was there was 5 years ago!
The timing you go there looks more comfy as it is less crowded and less messy. Hope that I can visit Malacca again soon.
