Every time after a long haul flight, our skin will be dry and dull. Sometimes, it becomes serious and result in peeling skin. So, in-flight beauty care is extremely important if you want to keep your skin glowy after the long flight. Here I am to introduce you my 3-step skincare – Althea Bare Essentials, during my recent 7-hour flight to Adelaide, Australia (and also my only skincare when travelling Adelaide.
Who is Althea? Althea is Korea’s premier online beauty shopping destination that provides the latest beauty products, trends, and lifestyle to consumers in Southeast Asia. As one of the largest online beauty store worldwide, Althea has come out with their own brand product. First to be introduced from this highly anticipated label is the Petal Velvet Powder, a translucent powder that sets makeup and leaves behind a smooth, silky satin finish. Now, Althea has brought us their very own skincare product range – Bare Essentials.
Althea Bare Essentials
Riding on today’s current minimalism movement, Althea Bare Essentials focuses on
skincare fundamentals. This series drops all the unnecessary skincare routine, going back to 3 most prominent and essential steps – cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. And these 3 steps, are just what you need during your in-flight beauty care.
Step 1: The Contour Cleanser 150g @ RM23.00
Packed with soothing Ice Plant and detoxifying Lemon Myrtle extracts, this cleanser is densely filled with micro capsules that burst upon contact with water to gently cleanse, exfoliate, and detoxify skin.
My say: IMPORTANT knowledge!! If you are taking flight, you should get a soap free cleanser. Because soapy cleanser will somehow dehydrate your skin as the soap cleanse as much oil as it can from your skin, which your skin needs that oil to keep your skin hydrated during long haul flight. So yeah, this contour cleanser is good for you as it is least soapy and it helps to promote blood circulation, reduces bloating and swelling for a defined, enviably slim face shape. And also, because the contour cleanser contains micro breads, you can as well, remove dead skin cells so your skin can absorb the essence in the following steps.
Step 2: The Primer Water 200ml @ RM43.00
Both a hydrating toner and a primer in one, the Primer Water contains patented dewdrop technology (Macro Fluidic Dispersion technology) that gently fills the gaps between pores and allows hydration to penetrate deep within the layers of the skin. Made with Snow Lotus extracts, this skincare heavy hitter has an incredibly smooth and silky texture that enhances the skin’s natural glow, leaving you with the perfect canvas.
My say: I seriously love this toner much! It is not the watery type, it’s silky smooth. As it is not as watery as the common toner, I feel not only refreshed but also instantly realized that my skin is being moisturized after applying it. For a long haul flight, this allows the hydration going deep into our skin layers; hence, your skin isn’t being dehydrated.
Step 3: The Fixer Cream 50g @ RM50.00
This non-oily, quick-absorbing formula harnesses the power of Trehalose, an ingredient found in the cactus plant that prevents its moisture loss, to provide the skin with 24-hour hydration. This ultra-nourishing wonder cream is also rich in antioxidants derived from Camellia Sinensis (green tea) seed oil, and helps to promote collagen regeneration using Baobab Tree extracts.
My say: I have a dry combination skin type. Hence, I don’t really like applying cream type of moisturizer as it will make my T-zone much oily. However, I will go for the Fixer Cream during my long hour flight. Our skin needs more hydration in this context. If you are using gel type moisturizer, believe me, you will feel dry after few minutes. I didn’t feel oily after application, yet, I feel it is slightly sticky on my hands (not the face). Not sure if it is because I have a pair of sweaty hands or it is really sticky, I just gotta wash my hands in order to get rid of the stickiness. Nonetheless, it helps to keep my skin bouncy to the touch.
Overall Verdict:
So how is overall verdict on the Althea Bare Essentials skincare range? I would say if you have a dehydrated skin, this is you skin’s savior! For whom is taking long haul flight, this is the perfect 3-step skincare you need. Yeah, of course, you can’t bring the full-sized product on board, but you can make your own travel pack — such as pack into straw, just like below!
